Beetle HIdden Key Box - Handmade - Unique and One of a Kind - a delicate and functional piece of art to store secrets and treasures
This is a box I made for myself at the beginning of 2025. In a time I was looking to allow more time for myself. It has personal meaning and significance scattered throughout it, in the numbers, the encapsulated specimens and other elements. Art is a journey and creating this box has fulfilled it's entire purpose for me. This box, like all of my art, holds a piece of my soul.
Made of Pine wood
Size: 13X9.5X3 Inches
Wood burned by hand- planetary symbols, zodiac sings, moon phases, and roman numerals
Wood Stained
Hand painted with gold paint and india ink, acrylic, and gouache, sealed with a protective top coat
Finished with brass hardware
Two tear drop Labradorite stones, a moonstone, quartz metal charms, acrylic gems and resin windows, foil printed star leather pen holders, holographic interior print.
The clock hands rotate freely, for no reason
The bottom resin window holds shed snake skin
The glass bottle is attached magnetically- it holds quartz crystals and dried flowers
The beetle (hand painted with gouache) hides the key
The two "specimen windows" include real flowers, moth, and cicada wings
The spikey teeth element is just a piece of art. The large teeth attach magnetically
Inside the box, the lid has space for pens or pencils, and built in hidden magnets to hold tools. The chain (with a tiny box charm that opens) prevents the lid from damage.
It comes with an engraved black and gold padlock and two keys.
